Human evolutionary tree getting stumped...

From a fossil jaw discovered in Kenya in 2000, and after much research, a team has announced that our view of our evolution is not entirely correct.

First, we thought that Homo sapiens (us) evolved from Neanderthals, but we have since discovered that they were a separate species that was out competed and died off against Cro-Magnon species(?).

Another commonly held belief is that Homo erectus evolved from Homo habilis, but the youngest fossilized remains of Homo habilis ever discovered were found within walking distance of a complete skull of Homo erectus which is dated to around the same time as this Homo habilis jaw, indicating that the two species lived in the same area at the same time, and that it is not likely that one evolved from the other.

Interesting read and fascinating discovery.
