This one is for Lucy

Windows, air conditioning - who cares?

There's the old saw that leaving your windows rolled down creates an aerodynamic drag on your car, cutting down on fuel efficiency. And there's the notion that the fastest way to drain your gas tank is by running your air conditioning.

Don't believe either one.

In two separate studies conducted in 2005, the automotive Web site Edmunds.com and Consumer Reports compared the fuel economy of both a sedan and an SUV at highway speeds with and without air conditioning and how open windows affected gas usage.

What they found was no significant difference in fuel economy in either sedan or SUV under either condition.

Boo-ya!

Thank Christ because if there's one thing I love about my car is the fact that there is no AC whatsoever other than the 2(windows)X80(mph) method. Let me tell you, when it's 115F in the Sac and I'm stuck at a stop light I just love to feel the toxins pouring out of my body. similiar to sweatin to the oldies, except I don't have a stereo either (thanks theives and the Sac PD who fails to give a fuck), so it's more like being a young anasazi warrior, finding my power animal in a sweat lodge and having halucinations that I'm flying over the grand canyon (or was that high school?). Then the light changes and the fat bitch behind me with all the Jesus and "W04" stickers honks her horn and I'm brought back to the cruel reality that I just have a beater car with no AC and now no good excuse to by a new one that does. Thanks Rich (for nothing).
